📢 TALK OF THE TOWN

Plymouth’s 2025 Budget: Big Investments, Minimal Impact
On September 3, the Plymouth City Council approved a proposed 2025 budget of $23.2 million, reflecting an 8.8% increase from last year. The plan also includes a preliminary property tax levy increase of 8.71%, which could decrease before December but can’t go higher.
What’s Driving the Increase?
The city crafted this year’s budget with three key goals:
Investing in public safety personnel
Advancing strategic plan initiatives
Minimizing the impact on residents
Major budget drivers include:
Upgraded IT and technology investments
Competitive employee compensation
Adding public safety employees
Increased insurance costs
Where Do Your Tax Dollars Go?
Here’s how Plymouth allocates your tax dollars:
Police – 36%
Admin & General Government – 21%
Public Works – 11%
Parks and Recreation – 11%
Capital Outlay – 9%
Community Development – 7%
Fire – 4%
This year’s budget reflects the city’s commitment to public safety, essential services, and strategic growth.

Panoway Lakewalk: Your Winter Walking Spot
Good news for winter walkers! The Panoway Lakewalk is set to remain open this season, offering a naturally packed snow trail for your frosty strolls.
Here’s the deal:
The city won’t clear snow from the path, allowing it to pack down naturally into a winter walking trail.
Safety first: City staff will monitor the trail conditions, and if it’s deemed unsafe, the Lakewalk will be closed to the public.
So, bundle up, grab some sturdy boots, and enjoy the scenic winter vibes! Just remember to check conditions before heading out.
