Lake Minnetonka Klondike Dog Derby: Returning in 2025!

The 2024 Klondike Dog Derby may have been sidelined by an unseasonably warm winter, but the sled dogs will be back next year! Mark your calendars for January 31 – February 1, 2025, when Excelsior once again transforms into a winter wonderland for our 4th annual sled dog race and family-fun weekend.

📍 Downtown Excelsior, MN
🐕 Vet Checks, Meet-the-Mushers & Hug-a-Husky!

What is the Klondike Dog Derby?

The Lake Minnetonka Klondike Dog Derby is a world-class sled dog race that brings the thrill of mushing to our local community. Mushers and their 8-dog teams will race 40 miles along the stunning shores of Lower Lake Minnetonka, starting and finishing in the heart of historic Excelsior.

This is a FREE, family-friendly event! But we rely on donations to keep this incredible tradition alive. Net proceeds from the race benefit our charity partners:

Calling All Vendors! Showcase Your Business at Discover Plymouth

The City of Plymouth is gearing up for its annual Discover Plymouth event on Saturday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Fieldhouse dome at the Plymouth Community Center (14800 34th Ave. N.)—and they’re looking for vendors to join the fun!

Local businesses, community groups, and nonprofits are invited to apply for a booth to showcase products, services, and opportunities. Whether you specialize in home improvement, health and wellness, volunteering, family activities, or handmade goods, there’s a spot for you.

🔥 New this year: Discover Plymouth will feature a Young Entrepreneur Section, offering a dedicated space for business-minded youth (18 and younger) to showcase their products or services.

Want in? Apply by March 5!

Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Download the forms on the city’s website and secure your spot.

Celebration of Life for Jim Davis Set for Feb. 1

The City of Plymouth mourns the passing of former City Council Member Jim Davis, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Davis dedicated years of service to the Plymouth community, representing Ward 3 on the City Council from 2017 until his resignation in February 2024 due to health challenges. Before his time on the council, he served 10 years on the Plymouth Planning Commission and three years on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.

Join the Celebration of Life – Feb. 1

The community is invited to a Celebration of Life in honor of Jim Davis:
📅 Saturday, Feb. 1
⏰ 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
📍 Plymouth Community Center (14800 34th Ave. N.)

This will be an informal, open house-style gathering—no RSVP required.
