📢 TALK OF THE TOWN

More Access to Lake Minnetonka Is on the Way
Good news, lake lovers: those long-awaited Panoway “stepdowns” are finally becoming a reality.
Originally part of the 1,200-foot lakewalk design, these community-driven mini platforms were created to bring you even closer to the water—literally. Whether you're looking to sit and relax or dip your toes into Lake Minnetonka, the stepdowns are your new go-to spots.
After a few design adjustments pushed things back last year, the City plans to install two stepdowns this spring right next to the bench-lined section of the lakewalk.
Bonus: Life preservers and clear signage will be added nearby to keep everyone safe—and to gently remind folks that fishing, swimming, and boat docking aren’t allowed here.

Prescribed Prairie Burns Are Happening This Week in Plymouth
If you see smoke around town this week, don’t panic—it’s all part of the plan.
Plymouth is conducting prescribed burns in four native prairie areas starting Monday, May 5. These carefully controlled fires are managed by Prairie Restorations and are expected to wrap up within the week (weather permitting).
Why set fire to a prairie on purpose? Because it’s like a deep cleanse for nature. These burns clear out old thatch, warm the soil, and jumpstart the growth of warm-season grasses that keep native ecosystems thriving.
Here’s where you might see some controlled smoke:
Fairway Greens (15455 55th Ave. N.) – 1.88 acres on the park’s perimeter
Crooked Creek (4255 Walnut Grove Ln N.) – Hillside area near the basketball court
Olive Pond – Surrounding city stormwater ponds near County Road 101 and 25th Ave N.
Lowe’s Berm & Vicksburg Crossing Pond (3205 Vicksburg Ln N.) – Behind Lowe’s and near Vicksburg Crossing apartments
Burns will kick off at Fairway Greens, Olive Pond, and Crooked Creek, with Lowe’s Berm and Vicksburg Crossing later in the week—assuming Mother Nature cooperates.
