📢 TALK OF THE TOWN

Hold On Tight: Plymouth's Newest Spot Will Have You Reaching New Heights"

Your "I should try rock climbing" New Year's resolution just got easier to keep. Big Island Bouldering just opened their doors, and spoiler alert: it's way cooler than your kid's backyard jungle gym.

What's inside this concrete jungle? Glad you asked:

  • Climbing walls that would make Spider-Man jealous (for both pros and "I'm just here to try it" first-timers)

  • A mini-climbing paradise for the kiddos (way better than climbing your furniture)

  • A full fitness setup for leg day (because arm day is covered by all the climbing)

  • Fancy shower facilities (so you don't have to do your Zoom calls looking like you just conquered Everest)

  • A coworking space (because sending emails while watching people defy gravity > your regular coffee shop)

TL;DR: Plymouth just leveled up its cool factor by about 50 feet. 🎯

Want more details? You can check them out at bigislandbouldering.com or just walk in and look up... way up.

Copper Street Brass Is Coming to Town

Listen up, music lovers! Minnesota's hottest brass ensemble is about to blow through Plymouth (literally). And trust us – these aren't your typical "play-only-classical-music" brass players.

The deets:

  • When: Saturday, Feb 1, 7PM (aka date night o'clock)

  • Where: Wayzata High School (yes, that Wayzata High School)

  • Damage to your wallet: $26 for adults, $21 for the wisened crowd, $16 for students (plus some small fees because... life)

Why this isn't your average brass concert:

  • These folks casually switch from Mozart to Madonna like it's NBD

  • They've played with actual PRINCE (yes, THE Prince 👑)

  • Critics call them "flawless" and "exquisite" (fancy!)

  • They're McKnight Artist Fellowship finalists (translation: they're kind of a big deal)

BONUS: Wayzata High's Jazz Ensemble Blue is opening the show. Support local talent!

The whole shebang runs about 1 hour 45 mins with an intermission (perfect timing for your Instagram story updates).

Time to Get Nosy About Wayzata's Future

Ever wondered what's REALLY going on in Wayzata? (Besides that construction on Lake Street we all love to complain about?) Well, grab your calendar because this is your chance to get the inside scoop.

Mark your calendar: February 25th is coming up fast.

Here's the timeline:

  • 4:30PM: Meet & greet with our fresh-out-of-the-box Mayor Andrew Mullin (Yes, you can finally ask him about his vision for that empty lot you drive by every day)

  • 5:00PM: The main event - State of the City Address (Way more interesting than your average Monday night Netflix binge)

  • After that: Q&A with City Manager Jeff Dahl (AKA your chance to finally ask about that stoplight timing)

The good stuff:

  • Where: Wayzata City Hall Community Room (free parking!)

  • Snacks: Yes (because all good tea requires actual refreshments)

  • Can't make it? They're recording it for WCTV (but you'll miss out on the cookies)

TL;DR: Come hear what's up in Wayzata, meet the new boss, and enjoy some free snacks. Democracy never tasted so good!

Plymouth's Famous Winter Mystery Returns

Plymouth's favorite winter treasure hunt is back, and this time there's $250 worth of reasons to dust off your detective hat.

The 411 on the hunt:

  • What's up: The 15th annual Fire & Ice Medallion Hunt (fancy name for "find the shiny thing, win cash")

  • Cost to play: $0 (yes, really!)

  • Prize money: $250 (that's like 50 hot chocolates worth)

  • New clues drop: Every Thursday (Jan 9, 16, 23, 30) until someone strikes gold

Pro tips for wannabe medal-aires:

  • It's somewhere on city property (no trespassing on your neighbor's yard, folks)

  • Mother Nature's trying to hide it? Too bad! The medallion stays snow-covered (no special treatment here)

  • Found it? Call 763-509-5200 before your victory dance

But wait, there's more! Mark your calendars for the grand finale - the Fire & Ice Winter Festival:

  • When: Saturday, Feb 1, 3-9PM

  • Where: Plymouth Creek Playfield

  • What's cooking: Games, entertainment, food, and FIREWORKS

  • Full deets: plymouthmn.gov/fireandice

TL;DR: Find a hidden medal, win $250, then celebrate at a winter festival. Peak Minnesota winter, anyone?

Clue #1 - Posted Thursday, Jan. 9

Another winter without much snow, not very Minnesotan, dontcha know.
But we have something sure to be fun, out in the park you can walk or run.
The Fire & Ice Medallion has found a new spot, now get out and search, just give it a shot.
