James J. Hill Days Returns to Wayzata September 5–7

🛍 Open-air street market with local vendors
🐶 Dachshund races (yes, really)

Slowing Down to Speed Up Safety: Wayzata Approves 20 MPH Citywide Speed Limit
In an effort to make streets safer for everyone — drivers, bikers, and pedestrians alike — the Wayzata City Council has approved a new citywide speed limit of 20 mph, unless otherwise posted.
✅ Why it matters:
This initiative, part of the City’s 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, is designed to reduce both the frequency and severity of crashes on local roads. Research shows that even small reductions in speed can dramatically lower the risk of fatal or life-altering accidents.
📋 What to Expect:
The new speed limit was approved at the June 17 Council meeting
It will apply citywide (unless otherwise signed)
Over the next 18 months, the city will:
Install new and updated signage
Adjust signal timing as needed
Full implementation expected in January 2027
Stay tuned for future updates as this safety initiative moves forward.
