Music in Plymouth Returns July 2 with the Minnesota Orchestra, Fireworks, Food Trucks & More
One of Plymouth’s most beloved summer traditions is back — and it’s bigger than ever.
Music in Plymouth returns for its 53rd year on Wednesday, July 2, turning the Hilde Performance Center into a hub of live music, family fun, and lakeside summer magic. Brought to life by the Plymouth Civic League and the City of Plymouth, this free community celebration kicks off at 5:30 PM and culminates with a fireworks grand finale under the stars.
🎵 What’s On Stage:
This year’s lineup features a mix of local and world-class talent, including:
Pan-Handlers Steel Drum Band
Los Alegres Bailadores (traditional Mexican dance)
Jennifer Grimm (beloved Twin Cities vocalist)
The Minnesota Orchestra – closing out the evening with a symphonic performance before the fireworks begin
You’ll also catch roving entertainers, musicians, and kids’ activities spread throughout the Hilde grounds — so there's plenty to explore beyond the stage.
🍔 Food, Drinks & What to Bring:
Expect a lineup of food trucks and concession stands serving up snacks and meals all night long. Prefer to DIY? You’re welcome to pack a picnic.
👉 Pro Tip: Bring your own blankets or chairs for seating, but don’t stake or rope off your spot — due to the Hilde’s underground wiring and sprinkler systems, it’s not allowed. Also, seating can’t be saved before 7:00 AM on the day of the event.
🚌 Getting There (Without the Stress):
Plymouth Metrolink is offering free shuttle service to and from the event, with pickups from:
Wayzata High School (4955 Peony Lane N.)
Plymouth Community Center (14800 34th Ave. N.)
Shuttles run from 5:00–11:30 PM and help avoid traffic headaches and parking gridlock.
Bonus Event: Music in Plymouth 5K – June 28
Warm up for the main event with the Music in Plymouth 5K on Saturday, June 28 at the Northwest Greenway. Walkers, runners, and families are welcome. All proceeds support the production of Music in Plymouth.
Register at active.com.
This event is made possible through donations from businesses, residents, and the City of Plymouth. To support Music in Plymouth, visit musicinplymouth.org.

The Meadows Playfield Grand Opening Set for June 17
Plymouth’s 69th park is here — and it’s bringing some seriously in-demand upgrades.
Join city leaders and local residents for the official ribbon cutting of The Meadows Playfield on Tuesday, June 17 at 5:30 PM, located at 5805 Peony Lane N.
This isn’t your average neighborhood park — it’s a full-blown community hub packed with high-energy amenities, including Plymouth’s first-ever cricket pitch, which was added in direct response to resident feedback.
What to Expect at the Ribbon Cutting:
🎤 Remarks from city officials
🏏 Cricket demonstrations and a chance to try it out yourself
🥤 Light refreshments (while supplies last)
🎉 A look at one of the most multi-functional parks in town
What’s at The Meadows?
The 18-acre park was designed with variety and versatility in mind. Here’s what you’ll find:
🏏 Cricket Pitch — a new city first!
🏓 3 lighted pickleball courts
🎾 2 lighted tennis courts
🛷 Dedicated sledding hill
🚲 Strider bike course
🏒 Hockey rink with basketball hoops
⚽ Soccer fields that share space with the cricket pitch
🚻 Four-season restroom building
🍽️ Plaza, picnic shelters, and shade structure
🚶 Walking trails that connect to nearby parks
🚗 On-site parking
The park was designed for year-round use, blending recreational fun with thoughtful environmental planning.
Built with the Future in Mind
As part of its sustainability efforts, the City of Plymouth included a suspended pavement system near the restroom building to support healthier tree growth and better stormwater management.
You’ll also find native prairie grasses, wetland restoration, and pollinator-friendly plantings — all contributing to the city’s goal of long-term environmental stewardship.
Come celebrate this exciting addition to Plymouth’s park system — and maybe even learn how to bowl a cricket ball while you’re at it.
