Plymouth on the Hunt for a Deputy City Manager
The City of Plymouth is on the lookout for its next big hire: a Deputy City Manager. This isnāt just another government job ā itās a leadership role with real influence on the cityās direction, operations, and future growth.
Applications are open now through 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, and city officials are searching for someone with both vision and collaboration skills to step into the role.
The Deputy City Manager will work alongside the City Manager to set strategy, shape policies, and help guide major city initiatives. The role includes coordinating high-profile projects, overseeing interdepartmental collaboration, and ensuring that city operations run smoothly.
On a day-to-day basis, the Deputy City Manager will directly lead the Administrative Services Department, which includes the City Clerk, Communications, and Information Technology teams. Itās a mix of leadership, problem-solving, and big-picture thinking ā perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and operations.
The city is offering a competitive salary range of $150,507 to $194,759, depending on qualifications.

Wayzata Charity Car Show Rolls Back into Town September 14
Start your engines ā the 4th Annual Wayzata Charity Car Show is hitting the streets of downtown Wayzata on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hosted by Wayzata Masonic Lodge #205, this family-friendly event brings together car lovers, community members, and local businesses for a day packed with classic cars, cool rides, live music, and good food ā all while raising money for a good cause.
The show is free to attend, and all proceeds benefit local high school scholarships for graduating seniors in 2026. Vehicle entries are by free-will donation ($15 suggested).
Car enthusiasts can expect:
Open entry: All makes, models, years, and motorcycles are welcome.
Parking: Along Lake Street E, Minnetonka Ave S, Indian Mound St E, and Rice St E in downtown Wayzata.
Prizes: Trophies awarded around 1:15 p.m. for Best of Show, Best Motorcycle, and 8 Peopleās Choice winners.
Extras: The first 100 cars receive dash plaques and a goody bag.
Food trucks will be onsite, plus visitors can stop by the Wayzata Fire Station Pancake Breakfast just two blocks away before heading to the show.
Pre-registration is available online, or participants can register the morning of the event starting at 9 a.m.

Heart Safe Plymouth Wants You on Their Life-Saving Team
Want to learn a skill that could literally save someoneās life? Heart Safe Plymouth is rolling out a new round of free CPR/AED training sessions this fall.
The classes are quick (just over an hour), hands-on, and designed for both teens and adults. Youāll learn hands-only CPRāthatās chest compressions without mouth-to-mouthāand how to use an AED (the defibrillator machines you see in airports, gyms, and public buildings).
Hereās the lineup, all happening at Plymouth City Hall (3400 Plymouth Blvd) from 7ā8:15 p.m. on Thursdays:

Heart Safe Plymouth isnāt new to thisāmore than 8,400 people have already gone through the training since the program started. Plymouth has even held the official Heart Safe Community designation from the American Heart Association since 2013.

Flapjacks, French Toast & Fire Trucks
The Wayzata Fire Department is trading hoses for hotcakes on Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at 600 Rice St. E.
For four glorious hours, you can stack your plate with pancakes, load up on French toast, and even try your luck in a raffle. The best part? Breakfast is on the house. The second best part? Donations are welcome and go straight to the Fire Relief Associationāhelping support the firefighters who keep Wayzata safe.
So skip the cereal, bring your appetite, and maybe drop a few bucks in the donation jar to keep the community strong.
