Sound the (Test) Alarm: Plymouth to Run Citywide Alert System Drill Aug. 5

Heads up, Plymouth — this is only a test.

At 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5, the city will run a citywide test of the Alert Plymouth system, the emergency notification tool that keeps residents informed when real threats arise.

If you’re signed up, expect a call, text, or email around that time. If you’re not signed up, this is your sign to do it:

What is Alert Plymouth?

Alert Plymouth is the city’s official system for sending emergency updates — not weather forecasts, street fair reminders, or park updates. Only urgent public safety notifications get pushed through.

That includes:

• Communitywide emergencies

• Localized threats near your home or workplace

• Time-sensitive safety instructions

Your contact info stays secure, and your data won’t be shared with anyone else.

Pro Tip:

Already signed up? Double-check your details. Especially your phone number and address. Including your address allows the system to target alerts by geography, so you’re only notified when it truly affects you.
