📢 TALK OF THE TOWN

Snow plows, parking Bans, and shoveling smarts in Plymouth, MN.

Winter is coming, and Plymouth’s plow crews are ready to tackle it head-on. Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead of the snow:

When the flakes start falling and pile up to 2 inches or more, a snow emergency kicks in.

This means no on-street parking until your street is plowed curb-to-curb. And don’t forget—there’s a year-round rule banning street parking from 2-5 a.m., so plan ahead.

The city’s goal?

Clear 332 miles of streets and 940 cul-de-sacs within nine hours after the snow stops.

If the storm is lighter (under 2 inches), main roads and key residential spots still get treated and plowed, with extra love given to hills, stop signs, and tricky curves.

Pro Shoveling Tips for a Smoother Winter:

  • Mark your yard with 4-foot reflective stakes to protect it from plow damage.

  • Inspect your mailbox post now and clear the area around it to ensure mail delivery.

  • Keep garbage and recycling bins out of the street. Push them a few feet back in your driveway—those truck arms can still reach!

  • Wait to shovel the end of your driveway until after the plow comes through (save yourself the hassle).

  • Stack snow on the right side of your driveway, downstream of plow operations, to avoid re-shoveling.

  • Remove any exterior lighting or landscaping near the street to avoid potential plow damage. The risk is on you!

Stay ready, Plymouth—winter waits for no one.

Shop, sip & send it (to Santa).

On Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Plymouth History Center is hosting its new Merry Market at Plymouth Old Town Hall.

This cozy event will feature local vendors selling handmade crafts and unique goods—perfect for holiday gift shopping.

And while you browse, grab some hot chocolate and tasty treats to keep the festive vibes going.

Got letters for Santa? Swing by Santa’s Mailbox and send them straight to the North Pole. Just make sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope for a return letter from the big guy himself.

It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season!

The boulevard is coming together in Plymouth.

Big things are happening in northern Plymouth.

The Boulevard, a massive mixed-use redevelopment, is transforming the former Prudential Financial campus at Bass Lake Road and I-494 into a bustling hub.

Approved by the Plymouth City Council, the 75-acre project will feature everything from retail shops and waterfront dining to med-tech offices and up to 925 residential apartments.

There's even a park with nature trails for your outdoor fix.

Led by Scannell Properties and Roers Companies, demolition of the old Prudential building wrapped up this summer. Summit Orthopedics is first on deck, breaking ground on its 80,000 sq. ft. facility in October.

Plymouth's Planning Manager Chloe McGuire says the goal is to create a “pedestrian-friendly city within itself” where you can live, work, eat, shop, and play—all in one spot.

With mature trees and a water feature preserved for community enjoyment, this development is shaping up to be a hidden gem.

Expected completion: 2027.

Plymouth’s fiber optic upgrade.

Plymouth, meet faster internet. The installation of broadband fiber optic internet is underway in parts of the city, and it's set to bring lightning-fast speeds and more choices for residents and businesses.

While it's not a city-run project, private companies are handling the underground installation in public rights-of-way and easements, regulated by the FCC.

Before digging starts, you'll spot flags and spray paint marking underground utilities like gas, electric, and cable—these are required by law, so no moving them.

Once fiber is installed, companies will restore any affected areas, including lawns, sprinklers, and even driveways.

To avoid damage, be sure to flag any underground items like sprinkler heads or pet fences before work begins.

Curious about who's doing the work and when? Head over to plymouthmn.gov/fiberoptic for more details.

High-speed internet is just around the corner!
