Tree City Status? Achieved. Growth Award? Secured.

The Arbor Day Foundation just named Wayzata a 2024 Tree City USA—and we didn’t stop there. We also earned a Growth Award for stepping up our game in tree care, community engagement, and long-term planning.

What does that actually mean?

It means we’re not just planting trees—we’re investing in our urban forest like it’s infrastructure (because it is). Think: better staff training, a full-blown ash tree replacement plan, and policies that protect our leafy landmarks for decades to come.

Here’s what the Arbor Day Foundation had to say:

“By recognizing the role of trees as critical infrastructure, Wayzata is helping shape a healthier and more resilient future."

We couldn’t agree more.

Huge shoutout to the City Council, City staff, and Wayzata residents for keeping this momentum growing 🌱

Food & Beverage Tax in Wayzata? Here’s Your Chance to Weigh In

The City of Wayzata is exploring a Food & Beverage Sales Tax—and they want your input.

Two public meetings will be held in the Community Room at Wayzata City Hall to share more about the proposal and gather feedback:

  • Business Session: Tuesday, May 14 | 8:00–9:00 a.m.

  • Resident Session: Wednesday, May 15 | 5:30–6:30 p.m.

Each session will begin with a short presentation, followed by an open discussion and Q&A.

Whether you're a business owner, resident, or just curious, this is your chance to ask questions, share concerns, and learn how the proposed tax could impact the community.
