Major Glow-Up Coming to Klapprich Park

Klapprich Park is getting a serious upgrade—think less “small-town baseball diamond” and more “community showpiece.”

At the May 6 meeting, Wayzata City Council gave the green light to kick off the Klapprich Park Improvement Project. Construction starts early to mid-June and will run through fall 2025, so expect some action behind the orange cones for a while.

What’s Coming:

  • A brand-new playground for the little adventurers

  • An outdoor plaza (hello, neighborhood hangs)

  • Sidewalk improvements along Minnetonka Ave

  • A reworked parking lot

  • Better grading and drainage (mud puddles, be gone)

  • A facelift for the warming house

  • Safer crossings and parking setups

  • Plus a few other handy upgrades

The whole plan came together through a tag-team effort between the Parks & Trails Board, City staff, and consulting firm WSB.

Plymouth Farmers Market Returns June 18

The wait is over—Plymouth’s weekly summer Farmers Market kicks off Wednesday, June 18 at Parkers Lake Playfield (15500 County Road 6).

Open 2–6 p.m. every Wednesday through Oct. 1, the market brings together local vendors selling everything from farm-fresh produce to delicious prepared foods and handcrafted goods.

Some vendors take cards, but you’ll want to bring cash just in case.

Need to use SNAP benefits? No problem—EBT cards can be used at the City of Plymouth booth to purchase tokens, which are good for eligible items from participating vendors.

Note: No dogs allowed unless they’re certified service animals.

Handwashing stations will be on site, and marketgoers are encouraged to wash and sanitize hands during their visit.

Want to get involved?

There’s a Community Table available for local nonprofits and charities to use for fundraising or sharing info. To apply, contact Recreation Supervisor Ann Mosack at 763-509-5214 or email [email protected] at least two weeks in advance of your preferred date.

Stay in the loop with vendor spotlights, market news, and event previews—sign up for the Plymouth Farmers Market weekly email newsletter at plymouthmn.gov/farmersmarket.

New E-Bike Ordinance in Wayzata Aims to Improve Safety for Young Riders

As e-bikes and motorized scooters surge in popularity—many now topping speeds of 30 mph—so do hospital visits from head injuries. To address the growing safety concerns, Wayzata is stepping in.

A new ordinance will require all e-bike and motorized scooter riders under age 18 to wear helmets.

The goal?

To give the Wayzata Police Department more authority to stop risky behavior, educate young riders and parents, and reinforce smart safety habits, before accidents happen.

This new rule aligns with nearby Lake Minnetonka-area cities and supports safer multi-modal transportation across the region.

More changes you’ll notice around town:

  • New signage along Lake Street urging cyclists to slow down through downtown

  • Reminders that bikes of any kind are not allowed on the Lakewalk

Wayzata is all-in on safety—and this is one small rule with a big impact.
