📢 TALK OF THE TOWN

Jewelweed Closes Its Doors—But Not for Long

Wayzata’s go-to spot for herbal remedies, body care, and good vibes—Jewelweed—has officially closed its doors. But don’t fret, crystal lovers. The shop says it’s only temporary, with plans to reopen somewhere this spring.

The announcement dropped last month on social media, where the store thanked the community for their overwhelming support. Turns out, Jewelweed was only open for about 20 days in January but still managed to have its best sales month ever. “Literally hundreds of you came by to shop our sale and wish us well,” the store shared.

Despite the optimism, leaving wasn’t easy. “Saying goodbye was hard,” Jewelweed posted, reminiscing about its lakeside sunsets and breezy corner spot.

No word yet on the new location or whether the shop will stay in Wayzata, but one thing’s for sure: the locals will be ready when it makes its return.

Plymouth’s Big Community Bash Is Back—And the Mayor’s Got Some News

Mark your calendars—Discover Plymouth is back on March 22, bringing a full day of community connections, local vendors, and even a few bouncy houses for the kids. Oh, and if you want the latest city updates, Mayor Jeff Wosje will deliver the annual State of the City address at 10 a.m.

Running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Plymouth Community Center Fieldhouse dome, this free event is basically a one-stop shop for everything Plymouth. Expect booths from local businesses, nonprofits, and city departments, plus a marketplace of homemade goods and even a young entrepreneur section where kids under 18 can showcase their products.

For the little ones? Inflatables, crafts, and a touch-a-truck exhibit featuring Public Works and Public Safety vehicles.

Want to be a vendor?

Local businesses, nonprofits, and young entrepreneurs can still snag a booth—but applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on March 5. More details at plymouthmn.gov/discoverplymouth.

Want the inside scoop on Plymouth’s latest projects, finances, and public safety updates? Stick around for the State of the City address, followed by a Q&A session with Mayor Wosje and CCX Media’s Dave Kiser.

Whether you're there for the city updates, the networking, or just the inflatables—it’s the place to be on March 22.

Pie for a Cause: Plymouth’s Annual Pie Day Fundraiser Returns March 14

Mark your calendar—and bring your sweet tooth. Plymouth’s annual Pie Day fundraiser is back on Friday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Plymouth Community Center.

On the menu? Freshly baked slices of cherry, apple, wildberry (no sugar added), lemon meringue, coconut cream, banana cream, and French silk pie—all served with ice cream. Prices are $5 per slice with ice cream or $25 for a whole pie with six ice cream cups (because who eats pie without ice cream?). No pre-orders—just show up and dig in.

The best part? Every bite supports senior and active adult programs in the community.

Bonus entertainment:

While you’re indulging, enjoy a performance from the Plymouth Rockers Senior Chorus at 11 a.m.—because nothing pairs better with pie than live music.

For more info, call Plymouth Parks and Rec at 763-509-5200.

Plymouth’s Annual Tree & Shrub Sale Kicks Off March 1—Get Yours Before They’re Gone

Green thumbs, get ready—Plymouth’s annual Tree & Shrub Sale is back starting March 1 for residents (March 8 for non-residents). Orders will be accepted through April 30, but don’t wait—supplies are limited!

This year’s lineup includes eight shade trees, two evergreens, seven shrubs, and five fruit plants—all hand-picked by city staff for their durability, pest resistance, and pollinator-friendly benefits. Whether you're replacing an ash tree lost to Emerald Ash Borer or just want to level up your landscaping, this sale has you covered.

Tree & Shrub Specs:

  • Shade trees (5-8 ft) & shrubs (2-3 ft) are bare root—meaning no soil, easier transport, and stronger root systems.

  • Evergreens (1-3 ft) come in pots.

  • Bonus: Every order comes with a free bag of compost from Plymouth’s organics recycling program.

Pickup Details:

Orders must be picked up on May 9 or 10 at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility (14900 23rd Ave. N.). Buyers will get an email with their assigned pickup time.

No warranties, limited quantities—so don’t miss out! Check out the tree selection and place your order at plymouthmn.gov/treesale.
