Plymouth Community Center's Winter Survival Guide: Indoor Everything

When Minnesota winter makes outdoor activity feel like a personal attack, Plymouth Community Center becomes headquarters for people who refuse to hibernate.

The facility at 14800 34th Ave. N offers the full range of indoor options – free walking tracks, paid playground access, fitness classes, sports leagues, and a heated dome where you can actually move without losing feeling in your extremities. It's the antidote to "I guess I'll just sit inside for five months."

Free options: indoor walking track (7 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. weekends, no strollers) and fieldhouse walking/jogging during select hours (strollers allowed, dress in layers because dome temps range 30-55 degrees depending on outside conditions). Paid options: K.U.B.E. Indoor Playground for ages 2-12 (9 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday – mornings reserved for private rentals). Fitness classes including Barre, TRX, yoga, Zumba, strength training, and adaptive programs. Sports leagues and open gym activities for all ages and abilities. Rustica Bakery Opens in Wayzata: First New Location Under Jester Concepts

When a beloved bakery brand gets acquired and the new owners immediately open a location in your town, that's either a vote of confidence or excellent real estate timing. Probably both.

Rustica Bakery & Cafe just opened its fourth location at 795 Lake St. E in Wayzata on Nov. 21, taking over the former Wuollet Bakery space. It's the first new Rustica since Jester Concepts acquired the brand in late 2024, joining existing locations in Minneapolis and Edina. Translation: Wayzata gets to be the test case for the new ownership's expansion strategy.

Expect Rustica's signature coffee, breads, and pastries, but the 1,600-square-foot Wayzata location adds an expanded savory menu including Toast and Jam Plate, Chicken Salad Croissant, and Chai Tea French Toast. So it's not just pastries and caffeine – there's actual lunch potential here.

Brent Frederick of Jester Concepts says they've "always admired Wayzata's charm and the sense of community," which is corporate-speak for "this location made strategic sense and we think locals will become regulars." Jester plans more Twin Cities Rustica locations in coming years, so if this one works, expect the brand to spread.
