đ˘ TALK OF THE TOWN

Nothing says Great Minnesota Get Together quite like fried ranch, am I right?
The Minnesota State Fair is upon us and though you can never go wrong with the classics, there are a ton of new options to try this year.
Feast your eyes (and tummies) on a few of this yearâs new food finds:
Deep-fried ranch dressing at LuLuâs Public House
Dill pickle tots at Tot Boss
Fried âBee-Nanaâ pie at Sabinoâs Pizza Pies
Ham and pickle roll up on a potato skin at Route 66 Roadhouse Chicken
â3 Piggy Pals on a Stickâ from Sausage Sister & Me
Buffalo cheese curd & chicken tacos at Richieâs Cheese Curd Tacos
Cooke butter crunch mini donuts at Mini Donuts & Cheese Curds
PB bacon cakes at The Blue Barn
Strawberries and cream waffle stick at Waffle Chix
Strawberry and lemonade donut from Fluffyâs Hand Cut Donuts
Iâm hungry just thinking about it.
I know this isnât directly related to Wayzata & Plymouth, but itâs something we can all truly unite and bond over, right?
Right.

The Hilde Nights series is featuring a country concert on 8/23!
Summer is coming to a close here in Minnesota (sigh).
And with that, the final show for the 2024 Hilde Nights series in Plymouth will be hosting a country concert from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, August 23rd.
The concert is set to kick off with the Tim Sigler Band, followed up Chris Kroeze.
Chris just happened to be the runner-up from season 15 of NBCâs The Voice.
As usual, these events are free and anyone is welcome to come.
Make sure to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and anything else you need to stay cozy as well as that cold hard cash (or credit card) to grab a couple beverages and get started on the State Fair early with the food trucks on site.

Tour Big Island and get a history lesson on September 15th.
The Lake Minnetonka Historical Society is hosting a history cruise & a walking tour of Big Island on Sunday, September 15th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The cruise will be held on âHer Excellency",â and tickets are available here.
Box lunches will be served for all participants and theyâll have drinks and spirits available for purchase as well.
This is a great & unique opportunity to learn and explore the rich and varied history of Lake Minnetonka â one of the best parts about living in Minnesota.

Wayzata Police Department is all systems go on a new drone program.
In an effort to uplevel the departmentâs ability to respond to critical incidents (like tracking down lost people or going after runaway suspects), the Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition is actively raising funds to help cover the costs of the Public Safety Drone program.
The cost to get started is a whopping $25,800 with an ongoing cost of ~$5,000 annually.
Though it may seem like a big barrier to entry, drones are proving to be really helpful for law enforcement and providing an upper hand using thermal capabilities and covering a lot of ground that officers either canât or find it challenging to do so quickly.
There are a lot of upsides to drone usage but some fear their right to privacy might be at stake, in addition to ensuring that the drones are used properly (and with cause).
It sounds like Wayzata Police will be moving forward with the initiative to better protect the community at large.

đ RESTAURANT FEATURE OF THE WEEK: ROCK ELM TAVERN (PLYMOUTH)

Rock Elm serves up home cooking, âjust the way you like it.â
With one of the best patio spots in Plymouth, Rock Elm Tavern serves up scratch-made food, serves up a bunch of craft beers on tap, and features an incredible happy hour.
They accommodate catering orders, parties, and they even have a food truck you might find somewhere around the Twin Cities.
Their housemade tots are a personal favorite (and if you love cheese in your tots, youâll think so, too).
