📢 TALK OF THE TOWN

Night to Unite has been bringing neighbors together all over Plymouth & Wayzata for more than 40 years.
Night to Unite is an annual statewide “get-to-know-the-neighbors” initiative that’s set to take place on Tuesday, August 6th, from 6:30-9 p.m.
The evening serves the community with an opportunity to build together, prevent neighborhood crime and build relationships with those around you.
Neighbors engage in a number of things, including potluck dinners, ice cream socials, or even ordering takeout from a local favorite.
These events are a great time to catch up with your neighbors, welcome new folks to your neighborhood and even update your neighborhood directories if you’re into that sort of thing.
Police, Fire, city staff, elected officials, and sometimes even McGruff (your favorite Crime Coalition Mascot) visit neighborhood parties with police cars, fire trucks, and trinkets for kids to have conversations, answer questions, and promote crime prevention across the cities.
If you have the opportunity to attend one in your neighborhood, it’s a phenomenal night.

A Wayzata High student aims to boost youth voter engagement.
Once learning that only 35.5% of Minnesota residents ages 18-29 participated in the midterm elections of 2022, Markus Wessman knew that someone needed to take steps to address civic engagement among the youth of Minnesota.
Markus founded The Youth Voter Project to help with just that.
The organization's mission is to boost the engagement of youth voters and ensure that the voices of young Minnesotans are heard.
They are making public resources available to inform young people and are encouraging them to become active in voting.
The long-game strategy is that promoting pre-registration to vote for young citizens when they turn 18 will also have a lasting impact on the state’s political landscape.

One of Wayzata’s most beloved parks is getting a makeover.
Word is that the Wayzata City Council has officially approved a plan to reinvigorate Klapprich Park — one of the best parks in the city.
The aim of the project is to dramatically improve the park and aims to cater to a wider range of park visitors.
Here’s a breakdown of what to look forward to:
Warming house reno: The warming house (which comes in clutch in the winter months) will be overhauled significantly and will provide more indoor space, new restroom access, a fireplace, more seating, and more locker space.
Expanded parking: Thank goodness! A new 20-stall parking lot will provide ADA accessibility to the play area, warming house, and ball field as well.
New playground: A new 4,200 sq.ft. ADA-accessible playground will be added near the warming house, making it accessible for all children.
Better draining and irrigation: These improvements will dramatically improve the issues with ice rink flooding in the winter.
Outdoor plaza and art: An outdoor plaza is being added with seating, portable fire pits, and space for public art installations.
The upcoming improvements will make the park much more appealing and accessible to all.

🍟 RESTAURANT FEATURE OF THE WEEK: The Fox and Pantry

The Fox and Pantry boasts incredible coffee, cocktails, classes, and more.
The Fox and Pantry isn’t like most coffee shops you’d visit. They have a wide selection of specialty coffee drinks you can’t find anywhere else, an incredible baked goods selection, and a breakfast sandwich that you might be willing to trade a limb for.
They offer a wide variety of classes for the community as well, such as craft nights, cocktail & espresso classes, pasta classes, and more. They also feature live music nights regularly and if that’s not enough, they even have a fantastic selection of decor, clothing, candles, etc. in the shop.
F & P also caters to those looking for private dining and an event space. They basically do it all.
Slide through and visit Kym Joles and the team. The staff is extremely warm & inviting. They aren’t shy about recommending their favorite drinks or treats, either!
